Tomorrow is the launch of Iain S. Baird's new book, Two Storms: Prostate Cancer and Katrina in New Orleans. The book covers Iain's diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from prostate cancer during New Orleans's own recovery from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
In Iain's own words:
Two million men in the United States alone are dealing with prostate cancer. This year almost 200,000 others will be diagnosed with the disease, and almost 30,000 will die from it. During my own illness, I found many useful sources of medical information about the disease but few accounts of what it was like on a personal basis to receive such a diagnosis and what to expect physically and emotionally during the months of treatment and recovery. I wrote the book to fill that void, and my hope is that it will provide not only detailed information but some comfort, as well. Additional details are available at my Web Site: http://www.iainbaird.com/
Finally, as Dennis Hopper, who died yesterday from prostate cancer, would tell you--get screened. This is a very curable disease if caught early, and a very deadly one if not. I am one of the lucky ones.
Two Storms is available through Amazon and other book sellers.
