As part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, Southbank Centre held a week-long Poetry Parnassus, bringing poets from all the competing Olympic nations together. You can read poems by Jennifer Wong - Hong Kong ("Glimpse"), Alvin Pang - Singapore ("When the Barbarians Arrive"), Craig Santos Perez - Guam ("from preterrain") and Bryan Thao Worra - Laos ("No Regrets"), alongside with poems by all other representing poets using the Guardian interactive map

The new issue of Mad Hatters' Review is now out! It is a tribute issue to Carol Novack (founder of MHR) and is edited by Cha contributor Marc Vincenz. The issue features 100+ writers, poets, artists, musicians and tightrope walkers as well as work by Carol that has never been seen before. Changming Yuan has two pieces (audio recordings) in the issue.

(Re)writing Culture with Sueyeun Juliette Lee, Craig Santos Perez and Barbara Jane Reyes
In this panel, three young poet-scholars investigate the intersection of research and poetic practice, including Perez's interest in ethnography and poetry, Reyes's practice of rewriting/retelling Filipino mythology and Lee's exploration of geography, psychology and the textuality of nations (focusing specifically on the United States and North and South Korea).
$10, $7 for students and seniors, free to Poets House Members

Cha contributors in Lantern Review





Several Cha contributors have new creative works featured in the inaugural issue of Lantern Review (June, 2010). Read Ocean Vuong's "The Touch"; Luisa A Igloria's "To the Mad Scientist, from His Poet-Wife" and "Contingency"; and view Steve Wing's photography "Door Shadow" and "Street Puddle Reflection". There is also a book review of Sun Yung Shin's Skirt Full of Black by Craig Santos Perez.

Lantern Review is co-edited by Iris A. Law.
Lantern Review aims to serve the literary community by providing a virtual space in which to promote and discuss the work of contemporary Asian American poets and artists. We seek to publish expertly crafted work in a variety of forms and aesthetics, including traditional and experimental pieces, hybrid forms, multimedia work, and new translations. We welcome pieces from anglophone writers of all ethnic backgrounds whose work has a vested interest in issues relevant to the Asian diaspora in North America, as well as work created collaboratively in a community context.
