How must one tell the truth?

"The Pleasant truth" (1966) by rene MAGRITTE

Emily Dickinson answers:

Tell all the Truth but tell it slant---
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth's superb surprise
As Lightening to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind---

Do you agree with Dickinson?

And Wallace Stevens wrote: "In the long run the truth does not matter."

  1. Are you glad of hidden darkness
    So poetically cautious and meticulous
    Full of high sentences
    But a bit obscure
    At times almost ridiculous
    Almost at times foolish
    Sometimes glimpsed
    In the folded shadows
    That drift in yellow fogs
    That dream of truth
    And lie in uncertainty
    And always arrive unbidden
    With half closed eyes
