CHA Issue#7 Goes Live

We are pleased to announce that the seventh issue of Cha: An Asian Literary Journal has now been launched. It features work by Ivy Alvarez, Andrew Barker, Dave Bonta, Catherine Candano, Surajit Chakravarty, Cecilia Chan, Kevin Chan, Louie Crew, E. K. Entrada, Suzanne Hermanoczki, Enrica Ho, Alan Jefferies, Iris A. Law, Fatima Lim-Wilson, Janet McClaskey, Caitlin Militello, Reid Mitchell, Ceci Mourkogiannis, Alice Tsay, Amy Uyematsu and Steve Wing.

We would like to thank our guest editor Bob Bradshaw for his help putting the issue together. He generously devoted his time and insights to help us choose the poetry and prose.

We would also like to point out that this issue was the first to feature our expanded book review section, run by our Reviews Editor Eddie Tay. We are hoping to continue to build this section in the future, so if you have a book you would like reviewed or you would like to review a book, please contact Eddie at eddie@asiancha.com.

Finally, our eighth issue is due out in August of this year. We are happy to announce that writer Royston Tester has agreed to help us read the submissions. The deadline for the issue is July 1st. If you have a piece you think would be right for Cha, please do not hesitate to submit.

Sushma Joshi's book longlisted for the FOC Award

Great news! Cha contributor Sushma Joshi's book of short stories The End of the World, has been longlisted for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award 2009. Other books on the list include Kazuo Ishiguro's Nocturnes (Faber and Faber Limited) and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's The Thing Around Your Neck (Fourth Estate LTD).

Sushma feels that it is an honor to be on the same list as these writers whose work she loves.

Good news! Philip Holden's story, "Two Among Many", first published in issue #4 of CHA: An Asian Literary Journal, has been selected for publication in Best of the Web 2009.
